Studio Journal: SINGING INTO OBJECTS
It is May 14th, a few days before the full moon eclipse and I am fearlessly, happily designing while I surf this mercury retrograde (the planets are always rooting for us!).
I have been working on creating my AARTIFACT02 and I am thinking not only of what is essential but also what we hold precious. I am thinking of the poetry of objects, the sensuality, the weight of holding a real thing in your hands. I am thinking of the process of destroying matter to transform it. Isn’t all creation a process of destruction and transformation?
I am thinking of how this works. I destroy matter and I know that something is released and there is a kind of openness. A void, where a conscious human being can imprint a thought in this new matter that is being created. I break a vibration and I sing a song into it. I lock it in and this new thing will forever sing my song. The object will one day break and become bits of matter yearning to go back into the earth which is the mother of all matter. But the song will still exist. The song I make and whisper into the object is eternal. And in the end only the eternal remains.
So now I sit and listen to the song that I am making into the matter and I am happy. Now I am thinking of all the paintings I have sent out into the world and I listen. They are all singing. I hope you hear them, too.
